Spoon Quilting

Gayle Ropp of spoon quilting fame made this quilt. It was in the Quilters Unlimited show back in June. Was that only a month ago? Gayle is a member of the McLean chapter and though I don’t know her well I can tell from our brief chats and chapter meeting exchanges that she is a sweet, generous person. Check out her website TJS Quick Quilter and be sure to click on the demo video.

One of these days I’ll make an Amish inspired quilt, too. The solid fabrics intimidate me.

Look at these tiny, even stitches. What a master!

Still plugging away on the calico triangles. Last night I started sewing hsts together – Yay!

I’m reading The Count of Monte Cristo. Not a quick summer read, but I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Amazing little stitches! Thanks for sharing the link to her website...I'm off there now.

I need a good summer read! Cutting for Stone was the last GOOD book I read and I can't find one to equal it!

  4. Be still by beating heart LOL!!! These quilts sing to my soul Maureen! I just love them to bits, seeing this one makes me want to run to the sewing roomm and start playing with all my solids LOL!!!! Gayle's tiny stitches are a joy to behold, I long to be able to accomplish just that!!! Thankyou for sharing this! I particularly love the lime green thread on black and have used green on black myself before, it's a great combo!!!!

  6. that stitching is amazing.
Making an Amish style quilt is on my quilt list too, but I don't know if it will be next year. I love the solid graphic boldness of the Amish.

I have an Amish quilt on the short list - maybe crib size.

  8. You have a very good eye for colour and I think that you would have no trouble with an Amish style quilt. Try something small for starters. You can do it.

  9. I'm intimidated by both working with solids and hand quilting, so this little beauty is way beyond what I'd be comfortable or confident trying to do. Her work is definitely impressive.
