Cascadia Quiltalong

I'm so happy with this little quilt. I finished it Monday. I just couldn't wait for Lori to post the finale.

I tried the solid light and wasn't happy so I pulled some other options. I kept looking in on this for a day and the cheddar was my favorite every time. Does that work for you? Setting out the options and approaching it anew a few times. I had already decided to hand quilt it with the same pattern Lori is doing. Seems like the best option to me.

My DD is taking care of an English Angora this week. I've never seen a rabbit like this.

I can't get over these ears!

We woke up to snow this morning. It is still coming down. Glad I don't have to go anywhere. This is our first Thanksgiving we will celebrate at home. My DS2 is here on break from school and my DS1 is coming down tomorrow morning. Today will be busy baking pies. I also think I'll get my cranberry sauce made. I found a recipe that isn't too sweet. I think I was going to post it last year and never did...Nope I didn't though I did take this photo.

I got the recipe from The Homemade Pantry by Alana Chernila. Here is her recipe on her blog Eating from the Ground Up. It's a little different than the one in her book but looks just as good.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the U.S. and hope all of you have a happy holiday season. Remember to take time to relax and stitch. We all need to take the time to refuel and I think most of us quilters find quilting does that for us.

  1. Your finished Cascadia top has to be the first one published, except for Lori's, don't you think? It's fun to see someone enjoying a project so much that she has to jump ahead and get it done. It's sweet as can be. I especially like your cheddar choice.
I've not been keeping up with blogs over the past months, and I just spent a wonderful time catching up on yours, reading through many months of posts. It sounds like your days in the country are living up to your hopes and expectations of some day living in the country. Your livestock and garden produce and changes in the home are impressive and almost idyllic. You're writing and sharing the joy of your days, and I'm soaking that up through your words and photos--with a big smile on my face.
    Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Maureen.

  2. I love how you used the cheddar in Cascadia. Gives yours a unique look, and I really like it. I stepped away from this one after cutting the first two steps. Reality closed in on me.
And now I should step away from the computer and get some pies made. Thanks for the cranberry sauce recipe. My oldest son is making our sauce and I am going to send him this recipe. I think he will like it.
    Happy Thanksgiving!
(Good to see Vivian surface for a moment.)

That bunny is darling. Nice to pet sit so you can try before you buy, ha! ha!
We had a rabbit for 7 years and she was an I door sweetie, no hair and ears like that though.
I always love your posts. Enjoy the snow.
