So happy this one is finished. I mailed it off to baby Layla in California last week.
Before I started stitching the tumbling blocks I came across four basket blocks I'd made a couple years ago and got the itch to make more. I always get distracted like that!
I took this photo to help decide which way I want to use this fabric for the sashing. Horizontal or vertical waves. I still haven't decided. Do you have a preference?
Your tumbling blocks are just lovely! Thank you so very much for including some close up pictures so we can really appreciate the beautiful fabrics and wonderful stitching. The baskets are marvelous too. I love that soft peachy tone, almost terra cotta on my monitor and the horizontal direction looks good to me.
ReplyDeleteHello Maureen,
ReplyDeleteThat tumbler quilt is so lovely, just like the name Layla :) The colours are so wonderful, Layla is a Lucky girl!
The baskets are great too.
Happy stitching & waves across the ocean,
Carolien
You should be so proud of that Tumbling Blocks quilt! You got it just right--the colors, the value placement--it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSome call it distraction--others call it the "squirrel" effect. Whatever it is, the baskets are sure cute. : )
Yay on your fun tumbling blocks quilt finish! The baskets are so sweet. Don't have a direction preference on the sashing. I'd never get them all the same way anyway. LOL
ReplyDeleteI made a tumbling block quilt years and years ago. I like the dimensional look you can get by careful placement of value. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your tumbling block quilt is wonderful! Love it. I haven't ever made one as they intimidate me a bit. Love your sweet little baskets too. I don't think I've ever met a basket block I didn't like though.:) I almost always cut my sashing with the stripes on the horizontal. Love the energy it gives a quilt.
ReplyDeleteHello Maureen!! Layla's quilt is fabulous!!! Great job!! Darling basket blocks - I love the setting fabric - no preference on the direction!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs!
Oh my, that's is a stunning quilt!! Wow!! What a lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteCute baskets, if you did corner stones you could use the strip the same on each side. I love stripe sashing.
Lovely little quilt - looks stunning on the line there! congratulations on a lovely finish
ReplyDeleteWow, very beautiful quilt and colours XXX
ReplyDeleteI hope the little one is enjoying her beautiful quilt. I think the sashing is ok either way. Lovely little baskets.
ReplyDeleteLayla is a very fortunate baby! I especially like the quilt hanging outdoors on a clothesline, so cozy! Is that you black cat walking by?
ReplyDeleteI like the second choice for the baskets, but either way will be beautiful.
Marsha
The Tumbling blocks quilt turned out gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like baskets "on point" (vertical) and also turned in (where 4 handles face inward towards each other) No matter how you choose to assemble the rows, your quilt will be stunning.
