The show was absolutely fabulous. I was blown away by the workmanship. I felt like I was taking photos of all the quilts - there were so many lovelies. I know I missed some beauties.
I didn't get photos of all the winners. You can view the them here.
Here are a few photos of Intercourse, Pennsylvania.
There are power lines in this photo, but many of the farms were not hooked on.
The fabrics were purchased at Zooks in Intercourse, everything else at the show. I paid between $4 and $8.50 a yard. Nice when fabrics at the LQS are over $10 now. I did go with a list and mostly kept to it. My plaid stash was running dangerously low so I was glad to find those. I didn't purchase anything at The Old Country Store because it was so crowded. I hope to go back to the area soon and go to Burkholders and the Lancaster Quilt and Textile Museum. In getting the link for this museum I see the Esprit Collection exhibit was limited to the show days. Darn! I'll have to keep an eye on this and see if they do it again.
Enjoy your National Quilting Day and Happy St. Patricks Day!
Thank you for sharing all those pictures from the show. Some very beautiful and intricate quilts. Barb's win is sweet with being in competition with so many wonderful quilts.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun going along on your trip to the Lancaster show. I really enjoyed seeing all of the quilts. I love the quilt with the cupcake in the border. What a great idea. I went to a quilt show a couple of weeks ago and bought that same feathered star pattern.
ReplyDeleteOh, Maureen--thanks for the show! And I loved that you gave us close-up shots of the quilting. What an amazing array! I kept calling DH over to the computer to see. Can't even choose a favorite, but there were several jaw-droppers! Someday I hope to see something like this in person, but this was the next best thing! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great quilt show. My favorites are the bright quilt that looks like a constellation and then of course, the bias pomegranate. The quilting on some of them is amazing. Thanks for sharing the eye candy.
ReplyDeleteWow! What fun! Thanks for so many pix! And I admire your fortitude in sticking to your "list" on purchases! I bet it would be so easy to go appetite over tin cup at those shows!
ReplyDeleteWonderful eye candy Maureen. I'm sure you were tired out after such a long day.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that the fabric in Intercourse is still good value.
Thanks for the pictures. I wasn't able to go to the quilt show this year, so I really appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteWhen you go back to Lancaster, be sure to go to Sauder's too. It isn't too far from Burkholder's. The Museum is by reservation only now, also. Just so you know.
Wow, Maureen! Those quilts are all so beautiful....I can't pick a favorite. The Jacobean-type flower on black was really unique with the colored threads making the design in the border. Very impressive! Of course, they all are.....I'll bet you had a ball!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing so many pics! What a treat!
Thanks for sharing the quilt show with all of us. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow! Maureen, what a show!!!! Thankyou for sharing such a wonderful array of photos and quilts, some of the work there is mindblowing, and I especially loved the close-up shots, you really see the magic of these quilts, the hand quilting and the machine quilting too, just awesome work!!!!! These wonderful pieces give me something to aspire too, (how many lifetimes do I have LOL!!!!)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful show! Thank you for sharing some of it with us. Lots of very impressive quilts. I think my favorite one is the rainbow spiral one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the WONDERFUL quilt show! I loved seeing them all!
ReplyDeleteSo hard to absorb so much in such a short amount of time. So many talented people.
ReplyDeletesorry to be the barer of bad news - I love your photos of lancaster.
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to visit and soak in the country side.
