Morningstar Complete!

I finished the binding on this morningstar quilt Monday and here it is being photographed for the quilt show CD. It's 32" square. These star block sat in a box for 10 years so it's good to finally have them in a finished quilt.

I'm now finishing up my quilt show team block swap. I traced cables from a Gwen Marston book of Amish quilting patterns and quilted over the paper. There's probably a better way to do this.
I'm happy with the result. Now I'm quilting the individual blocks.

I've added to my low volume hsts.
And I hope to baste a little quilt today and start hand quilting it. Now that my finger has a nice callus on it I want to keep going!

This time of year always seems to necessitate the writing of get well wishes and sympathy cards. I like to write my own and this book helps me do it. Even if I don't open it, I have it by me while I write. Love the cover art.
No sooner do I get a quilt done for one grand niece and another is born. Now planning one for little Abigail Lucille who was born yesterday. What a pretty name.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts today. I expect to finish quilting this today. I have to admit the closer I get to finishing the faster I go! My favorite betweens are Piecemakers size 12. I've tried others and they always break or bend on me. These bend but not to the extent that I can't keep on stitching.

Thanks to Doniene for the encouraging emails. We both wanted to do more hand quilting so we emailed updates to each other. It really helped.

I pull the thread through with the pliers. Helps keep my hand from getting tired.

This is the quilt I made for my grandniece, Ella. I used the 'Lil Twister ruler. My sister saw it and said it look like a difficult pattern to make. Hee, hee!

By the way, the sauerkraut I made turned out well. I can't eat it because it has too much garlic in it, so much that you can smell it when you just open the refrigerator door. My son's been eating it up.

Hope everyone in the northeast has shoveled their way out - or maybe not - stay in and stitch! Happy day!

More Quilt Show Quilts

I never finished showing you my favorite quilts from the Quilters Unlimited 2012 Quilt Show. I'm on the 2013 show committee and work is full swing. I'm heading up the boutique committee. If you've done this before, I'd welcome input on the kinds of items that sold well at your show boutique. We only sell homemade items by guild members.

Here are the quilts in no particular order. I tried not to repeat any of those I shared last June. Hope you enjoy the show-

Gayle is one of the most talented hand quilters I know. One of these days I'm going to ask her to show me how to spoon quilt.

Unfortunately, this beauty was on the dark side of the hall and up high. I wasn't using flash because it distorts the colors.

 Love the variety of reds.

Looks like a great scrap buster!

 Again, love the variety.

These strips are very narrow. The quilt is only about 20 inches square-

I finished Ella's quilt and sent it off to California. I'll share it and hopefully two other finishes by the end of the month. The other two are show quilts and they need to be done by the 26th to be photographed and registered for the show. Lots o' quilting happen' here!
