Red and White Cake Stand and Broken Dishes

I made this last night. It was so fun to put together. But guess what!?! It is too long for the space I planned to put it on my kitchen wall. Oh, well. I think if I rearrange things I will find a place for it. I'll share that when it is completely finished.

I used my Easy Angle ruler for the half square triangles. Don't remember if I've mentioned how much I love this ruler. For a 2 1/2" hst, you cut strips 2 1/2" wide - no 2 7/8".

Rick Rack!
 Vertical, too?
 Decided not. What do you think?
The Rick Rack I used is poly, but the perfect color. I don't remember what I bought it for.

Here are some old packages I must have picked up at a yard sale.


 This Rick Rack is so teeny tiny - less than 1/4". I don't know how I'll ever use it.

    Love very much your mini quilt, I prefer with horizontal & vertical ricrac.

    Gorgeous red and white, seems to be the theme in blogland at the moment. I'll vote for the horizontal ric rac only. I have no doubt that you will find a home for this little beauty.

    Adorable quick red/white project!
    I also prefer only the 2 horizontal lines of rickrack, not the vertical. I think it's more pleasing with the lines of the cake stand.

    Unless I use Thangles or Triangles on a Roll, my HST are also made with triangles cut as you have. Fast and pretty accurate -- and don't you just love avoiding measurements that end in 3/8 or 7/8?
